Dan's Vision for Sharon
Connect
-
Leverage the power of our diverse community through increased engagement, transparency, and collaboration. Our Town works best when we work together.
-
Promote inclusivity for all Sharon populations, especially those historically underserved, so all citizens feel welcome and included.
We are blessed to have a diverse and highly engaged citizen base in Sharon. The success of our town government depends on our boards’ and committees’ ability to engage and include all stakeholders in a collaborative and effective way. It is more than just making our citizens feel informed. We need to create an inclusive environment, where all have a voice, and support opportunities to cultivate and strengthen community. This is where the magic happens: getting to know one another and sharing ourselves and experiences. In short, our town works best when we all collaborate and work together.
Protect
-
Preserve Sharon’s unmatched natural beauty and small town charm with a focus on sustainability.
-
Fortify our financial strength through disciplined spending and smart allocation of resources.
Sharon possesses a wealth of natural resources that we must continue to protect to preserve the health and beauty of our town. Green spaces like Borderland and Moose Hill, the Lake, and Sharon’s drinking water are among the town’s most valuable assets. Sharon would not be Sharon if we took these treasures for granted.
On a different, but related note – also important to protect is our financial strength, which affords Sharon the ability to operate reliably though economic peaks and valleys and pursue important capital initiatives when the need arises. This will require us to continue to be diligent with our spending and allocate our dollars wisely with a view on the long-term.
Deliver
-
Revitalize Sharon’s local economy & limit tax increases to make Sharon accessible and affordable for its residents.
-
Advocate for excellence in our schools for our children.
-
Provide services and infrastructure for a flourishing and safe community.
Ultimately, it comes down to execution and delivering the intended social, economic, and educational benefits for our community. In addition to providing the services necessary to meet our needs, there are major projects we must bring to fruition: Sharon Gallery, Solar Projects, and the new Library. And beyond these projects, two of which will provide meaningful revenue to the Town, there are opportunities for further economic development. We can foster a more vibrant hub of community & commerce for all to enjoy, and the revenue growth can and will be used to support the highest level of academic excellence in our schools and to limit tax increases on households.
